Dr. Timothy Sheahan, Assistant Professor in Epidemiology, UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Topic: “Preparing for tomorrow’s pandemics today: Accelerating therapeutic development with preclinical models of coronavirus pathogenesis”
Dr. Sheahan is an expert virologist whose research is focused on understanding emerging viral diseases and developing new means to stop them. He is currently engaged in multiple interdisciplinary research projects across multiple schools and departments at UNC to address the immediate public health emergency of COVID-19. Dr. Sheahan’s research aims to develop broad-spectrum antivirals effective against a variety of emerging viruses including those we know about and those that have yet to emerge.
