First Flight Venture Center (First Flight) is thrilled to have won the $2.6 million FY20 Venture Challenge grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), benefiting Hangar6,a one-of-a-kind prototyping facility in RTP and enabling next level support for NC entrepreneurs.
First Flight established Hangar6 as a valuable innovation hub for entrepreneurs and startup businesses needing unique prototyping services. Since opening its doors in 2018, Hangar6 has offered a subscription-based membership program for Triangle entrepreneurs to design, build, and model product prototypes.
Krista Covey, President of First Flight Venture Center stated that “with this grant, Hangar6 will add more advanced prototyping equipment, custom memberships and educational programming for corporations, manufacturers, design firms and others who need cost-effective, design assistance and access to advanced prototyping equipment. Our new tagline reflects it all, Design, Prototype, Take Flight.”
Covey continued, “We are hosting a virtual Open House on Nov. 2, featuring our Shop Manager, Sam Dirani, an experienced industrial designer with prototyping expertise who provides invaluable design advice for H6 members. We will showcase our new and incoming equipment, high the shift across the 6 Davis parking lot into the building, reveal our new branding and provide updates on custom memberships. Plus, we will give individuals in the community that sign up for a Hangar6 tour a chance to win free memberships!”
